Researches have been on the dynamic changes of soil nitrification potential after application of 3,4-dimethylpyrazole, the main physiological flora involved in nitrogen transformation and the quantity and physiological activity of soil microbial communities by indoor culture test method. We investigated the effects of the application of the new nitrification inhibitor 3,4-dimethylpyrazole (DMP) on soil nitrification and biological quality. The results showed that the application of appropriate amount of DMP could significantly reduce the nitrification potential of soil and the amount of soil ammonia oxidizing bacteria in a certain period of time , and stimulate the proliferation of three microbial communities in the soil. However, bacterial, fungal and actinomycetes have different dose responses to DMP. The number of soil bacteria showed a trend of increasing with the increase of DMP dosage. Then the number of fungus and actinomycetes treated in medium dose is the highest before training for 28d. The application of ultra-high DMP strongly inhibits the growth of soil ammonia oxidizing bacteria. The soil nitrification potential has been maintained at a relatively low level throughout the culture period, and it has a certain inhibitory effect on the proliferation of fungus and actinomycetes and the total microbial physiological activity in the early stage of application. Microbial quotient decreases and the qCO2 value increases. After the application for 14 days, this negative effect gradually eased, which in turn showed a certain stimulating effect. DMP application has little effect on soil denitrifying bacteria.
